This page was created gradually over time as I created other pages. One of the tips I have learned from watching YouTube videos on art journaling is that when you have paint left over on your palette from the current page you are working on, rather than waste that paint and tossing it, smear/paint/brayer or otherwise put the paint on a blank page in your journal. This will allow for an interesting start to your background pages and build them up over time. Here is an example of a page I created by doing just that. The only thing in addition to smearing excess paint on the page was a layer of oil pastels that I put in for a little more color outside of the yellow and white acrylics. The hint of blue you see underlying the top colors are oil pastels that I have been playing with.
I love how the page turned out — the colors merged well together and made a beautiful background.
